On the jacket of this CD, the following words are printed;
"This is absolutely the best record I've made in my entire life. We gave our souls to this record." - Astor Piazzolla.
My favorite piece in this CD is #7. This strange title came from the
nickname of his wife and his house dog (he gave the same name to them!).

The last studio recording of his quintet. Track #1 always moves me to tears.

My favorite live recording. Gary performs as a part of the ensemble rather than the soloist, and that gives extraordinary tension to the performance.

He formed the sextet in 1989. There are few recordings with the group and this is the best among them.
Astor shared the stage with Osvaldo Puliese, the great tango maestro, on the day this CD was recorded. The CD titled "Luna" has recently released with the same contents of this CD but omitting track #8, joint performance of Astor's quintet and Orquesta Osvaldo Pugliese.

Astor Piazzolla (bn, arr), Dante Amicarelli (pf), Antonio Agri (vn),

Track #1 is the ultimate performance of the piece, Astor's most famous composition. The deep and beautiful introduction by Dante Amicarelli's piano is followed by powerful ensemble of the quintet.
The suite "Tangata", track #5-7, tends to be separated into each movement lately (e.g. "La Camorra", "Tristezas de un doble A"). In that case, "Tangata" indicates track #7.

This is the compilation of two albums of Conjunto 9, Astor's nonet in early 70's. I think the group is really perfect. When I was a high school student (around 1980), "Onda 9" (#8) came out from my FM radio, and that made me to become a great fan of Astor Piazzolla. Osvaldo Tarantino's marvelous piano solo is featured in the piece.
Pieces dedicated to bandoneon and great bandoneon players (#1), also dedicated to Elvino Valdaro, the violinist of Astor's first quintet (#6), and with dramatic climax (#9) are also contained in this CD.

The piece on track #1 was originaly composed for Conjunto 9. So much improvisations make it very exciting one with the size of more than 20 minutes!
